Outlook 97 Email Installation

Welcome to Tutorial for setting up Outlook 97 to send/receive email through Net-Port.

Follow these instructions step by step to ensure a correctly setup connection.
  1. Open Microsoft Outlook 97 and choose "Tools" from the menu bar.
  2. Choose "Services".
  3. Click on the "Services" tab.
  4. "Internet Mail" should be one of the information services listed there.
    If it is not, click on the "Add" button, then highlight "Internet Mail", and click on "OK".
    If it is, highlight "Internet Mail", and click on the "Properties" button.

  5. Now, we will use the example of an account with Net-Port with the following account info:
    Domain name: net-port.com
    Email Address: username@net-port.com
    Incoming Mail Server: mail.net-port.com
    Outgoing Mail Server: mail.net-port.com
    User Name: Your Username

  6. In the "Internet Mail" dialog box, click on the "General" tab. Fill in the boxes as follows:
    Full name: Your Name
    E-mail address: username@net-port.com
    Internet Mail Server: mail.net-port.com
    Account Name: Your Username
    Password: Your password

  7. Next, click on the "Connection" tab.
    If you log onto your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and then check your mail, choose "Connect using the network". Or uncheck to connect manually. This means you need to connect using your ISP then open Outlook to send and receive email. If you want Outlook to dial into your ISP for you, then choose "Connect using the modem".

  8. Click on "Apply".
  9. Click on "OK".
  10. Click on "OK" again.

Congratulations! You have created your account in Outlook 97. You may start sending and receiving email as soon as you are connected to the internet.
